What are the par scores at WPL grounds?

Brabourne Stadium has the highest first-innings average at 171; M. Chinnaswamy Stadium the lowest at 149. Chasers did best at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium (72%) and worst at Arun Jaitley Stadium (36%). Captains chose to field after 100% of tosses at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium but only 18% at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

How have WPL scores changed since the first season?

The first-innings average went from 157 in 2023 to 169 in 2026, and the powerplay from 41 to 47. Each season is a little over 20 matches, so expect a few runs of swing from year to year.

Using the numbers

What do these numbers mean for betting?

• Read a live score against the ground's own par, not the league's. 160 is par at an average WPL ground, but light at Brabourne Stadium and strong at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
• Chasing has been the better side of the toss in the WPL, winning 60% of decided matches, but not everywhere: check the ground before assuming it.
• Use the powerplay column to sanity-check a 6-over session line before you take Yes or No.
• Treat a single ground's percentages as a lean. The busiest ground here has 22 matches, a small sample.

Method and source

How we calculated these figures

1. Every WPL match from the first season in 2023 to 2026 in Cricsheet's ball-by-ball records.
2. Scoring averages use only full 20-over matches: no DLS adjustment, no washout, no reduced overs. Super overs are ignored.
3. The powerplay figure is runs, including extras, in overs 1 to 6 of the first innings.
4. Chase and toss win rates count matches with a winner decided without DLS.
5. A ground is listed only with at least 10 matches. The WPL plays a short season at a few venues a year, so these samples are small: treat a single ground's percentages as a lean, not a rule.
